Alright, this is one for the record books. I have something nice to say about Walmart. They’re doing something really helpful and I am compelled to share:
I entered my local Walmart to buy a can of cranberry sauce. You would think this would be a simple 2-minute task, but I found myself wandering from aisle to aisle, doubting myself, getting distracted, losing hope… then I remembered: This is the year 2026, and I carry the knowledge of all things in my pocket!
So using my phone, I opened the Walmart app and searched for the sauce. Walmart assured me it was in-stock and I was standing in the right aisle. But I still couldn’t put my eyes on it. No helpful employees were near. Impatience and can-blindness was setting in. It’s then that their app saved me:
On the item listing in the Walmart app, I tapped “See Store Map” and then I pressed on the Flash price tag button. A moment later, a bright white light started strobing up on high from a “digital shelf label”. The app had sent a signal through to that item’s DSL to make it blink and catch my attention!
How lovely that all this technology is good for something, other than surveillance pricing. Huzzah!
