The 2025 Restoro/Reimage Settlement

The 2025 Restoro/Reimage Settlement

The FTC has finally managed to bring the hammer down on one major player in the tech-scam department. Restoro and Reimage have been sued by the feds, and made to pay up! If you ever paid money to one of these companies, money may already be on its way to you. Here’s some more info on the 2025 Restoro/Reimage Settlement:

The Scheme

Circa 2018 (or earlier, in my opinion), pop-up ads and push notifications would sneak onto people computers, announcing problems and infections that weren’t really there. Restoro and Reimage were behind a lot of these deceptive messages. And they worked really well. So many users were convinced that their perfectly working PCs were horribly sick and infected.

Restoro and Reimage convinced hundreds of thousands of people to call them up and fix their computer “issues” and pay major $$$ for support. This went on for years, until investigators finally got involved. In 2022, the FTC used Restoro and Reimage services, posing as regular people, and documented their tactics for the eventual legal proceedings. Those began in March 2024, and here we are, a year later, with everything wrapping up and money being sent out to the victims.

The Settlement

You don’t have to sign up or file a claim for your piece of the settlement. The FTC has received $26 million from these scareware companies, along with a list of 700,000+ customers to send the money back to. So if you think you are one of the many who were duped and defrauded by Restoro or Reimage, keep an eye on your email!

The money is being disbursed via Paypal vouchers. The FTC will email these out between now and March 14. Watch your inbox, as well as your Spam folder (because settlement emails often wind up there). See below for example emails!

If you think you should get a refund, but don’t receive it by 3/14/2025, contact Rust Consulting, Inc., at 844-590-1102 with your inquiry.

If you do get a payment email, but aren’t sure about it, then please review this info for some peace of mind. Also, feel free to forward any email you wish to me at jesse@bluescreencomputer.com and I will write you back with my opinion of the message.

Final Commentary

This lawsuit takes care of just one bad apple, from an entire rotten orchard. There are still many scams, schemes and computer hazards out there. Don’t let your guard down, just because of one victory!

Please look below for samples of the emails that are being sent out. If you receive something like these in March 2025, it is trustworthy and legitimate!
