Jo-Ann Fabrics stores are going away, since Jo-Ann Stores, LLC declared bankruptcy this year. Winding down their operations, they’ve stopped accepting their own gift cards, and they’ve ceased online ordering. Scammers have seen an opportunity in this. They are creating really good fake JOANN websites and trying to get people to use them.
At the time of this writing, www.joannyarn.com was an example of such a fake website. You probably won’t encounter these phishing sites through a search, but they are circulating through Facebook posts and other social venues. Compare to the real www.joann.com, if you want, to see how people might be fooled.
To be clear, as of March 5, 2025, it is not possible to place an online order with Jo-Ann. If you want to take advantage of their liquidation sales, you must go to a physical store. Any website allowing you to place an online order with Jo-Ann is a fake and is out to steal your credit card info!
What You Can Do
If you’ve been tricked by one of these websites, call your credit card company ASAP. You will not receive your order, but there will be a fraudulent charge on your account! Explain what happened, and they will take corrective action with you. They will probaly cancel the card and dispute/reverse the charges for you.
If you’ve found one of these phishing websites, you may report it to the government. Reports do help and will (eventually) result in the website being taken down. Consider:
- Reporting the website to the FTC.
- Email a report to Joann Customer Service.
- Report the post, if shared on social media, to Facebook or other platform.
