The latest email hazard to circulate is Reclaim.ai phishing. Check out this example and don’t be fooled:
This is just another Thank You For Your Purchase Scam. That is to say: this is just a bunch of lies, designed to alarm and upset the recipient with a purchase that didn’t happen. The goal is to lure people to call the scammer’s phone number in the phishing email. As I always warn: Don’t call any number in an unexpected message!
That said, I can see how this might catch some people. Because the email truly came from Reclaim.ai, which is a legitimate company owned by Dropbox. All of the links in the email lead to the Reclaim.ai website or other believable companies. How is this possible?
The scammers have noticed that anyone can sign-up with Reclaim.ai, to use their free AI-infused calendaring service. No credit card needed! So they’ve made an account with Reclaim.ai and started sending out calendar-invite emails, with all that glurge about a fake purchase, copy-pasted into the message body.
If You Receive Any Reclaim.ai Phishing:
- Don’t call the number!
- Just delete the message
- Optional: forward the phishing message to support@reclaim.ai
