Free Email Clients

Microsoft is making more and more changes to its email clients. Long gone are the peaceful days of Windows Live Mail. Mail is also being taken from us, and Microsoft is foisting their “New” Outlook on us as a replacement. “Classic” Outlook users are being offered that same “New” Outlook, but when they take the bait, they immediately regret it. Why, Microsoft? All this unwanted change is just going to drive people away from using your software. It seems like everyday, another client is asking me for better options, and I get to present them with some alternative free email clients, such as:

Mozilla ThunderBird

Free Email Clients

The makers of the Firefox browser also offer a full-featured email client, called Thunderbird. And by full-featured, I mean: it offers email, contacts, calendar and tasks, all in one program. It’s as close to “Classic” Outlook as you can get.

Thunderbird is available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and now even on the Android OS.

eM Client

Free Email Clients

eM Client is another quality email client. You may use it for free with up to two email addresses, but if you need to wrangle 3 or more emails into it, they will ask you to buy a license. Still, it is very comparable to Thunderbird in its layout and features.

eM Client is available for Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS.

Mailspring

Free Email Clients

Lastly, I’ll mention Mailspring as a solid mail client option. While it seems to focus only on email and contacts, it does so very well. The interface is very tidy, almost minimalistic. If you want email with fewer distractions, Mailspring may be for you.

Mailspring is a free download for Windows, MacOS and Linux.
