Macs get infected just as often as PCs. I know because I’m cleaning malware and baddies off of Apples these days, just as I do for Windows computers. Protect your system with a free antivirus for Macs:

Bitdefender Virus Scanner for Mac: https://www.bitdefender.com/solu…/virus-scanner-for-mac.html

AVG Antivirus for Mac: https://www.avg.com/en-us/avg-antivirus-for-mac

Sophos Home Free Antivirus: https://home.sophos.com/en-us/download-mac-anti-virus.aspx

These are full-time, auto-updating antiviruses. Install only one at a time, because two antiviruses will conflict and cause problems.

Besides those, you might also want to try Malwarebytes for Mac. It’s more for malware-detection and removal, and antiviruses aren’t always the best at that. Malwarebytes should be compatible with antivirus programs, but if you see any major slowdown with this program, you can just scan with MWB and then uninstall it.

Lastly, let’s say you’re happy with whatever protection your Mac has. But you’d like a second opinion on things. You can run an online, one-time scan of your system with a different antivirus. It won’t change your setup or interfere with your current antivirus. If this interests you, consider the Trend Micro HouseCall tool:

It will advertise their other products to you, but you do not have to buy anything. If it finds anything bad on your system, it will tell you and remove it for you, for free.
