Reading can turn into an expensive hobby, unless you remember to use your local libraries. And the Library Extension is made to help with this! You can use this freebie in your browser to make it easier to check your library for book titles, as you shop on other sites. If you want to try this out, here are the basics:
- Install the Library Extension in your Chrome, Firefox or Edge browser.
- Find and open this extension to search for and select one or more libraries.
- Go shopping or surfing for books!
This extension works on many of the websites that you already use for book shopping and reviewing. While you are going through Amazon or Goodreads or Barnes & Noble webpages, the Library Extension will inject a information box to the side of the book you are considering. That box tells you if the title is available at your library, and will give you a button to click to go to your library site to check it out.

Limitations
This tool only works on computers, in the named browsers. Sorry, but it wasn’t developed for mobile devices.
If you want to see which websites it can help you on, check out this part of their FAQ for a list. This extension only helps while on those sites, so if you go to an unlisted site, like BooksAMillion, then you’ll see no change.
