Victoria’s Secret Security Incident

Don’t get your knickers in a twist, or from the Victoria’s Secret website. It’s down, and has been since the weekend. So is their mobile app. Before the Memorial Day holiday, Victoria’s Secret suffered some kind of security incident, and they had to deactivate their site, apps and all customer-facing transactions.

Victoria's Secret Security Incident

We don’t know more at this time. They’re likely scrambling to fix whatever damage has occured. And always remember: big companies have lawyers on staff, whose job it is to tell them to button their lips and say nothing to the media. If you need to keep tabs on this, their corporate website is still up and unaffected. They may announce sterilized updates on the FAQ there, or on their Facebook page.

It’s my understanding that VS physical storefronts are open for business and mostly unaffected, but website orders are in limbo, and VS giftcards may not work. Hang in there, and if you are a customer, you’ll probably want to change your VS account password when they get everything back in operation!

Update: Victoria’s Secret is vaguely confirming that a cyberattack occured, but dancing around giving any solid details. They haven’t commented about the security of their customer data, so keep an eye on your credit card statements, if you’ve saved payment info on the VS website.
