The antivirus company known as Avast got in some trouble. They allegedly collected and sold customer data to other companies, without getting your permission. The FTC went after Avast, and there’s $16.5M to divvy up amongst Avast customers. So how do you get your piece of the 2025 Avast Settlement?
First, please know that this is just for paying Avast customers. If you were using their software for free, you get nothing. You have to have bought Avast software, between August 2014 and January 2020 to be eligible for a payment.
If you meet those criteria, then look for an email from Avast about this settlement. It should arrive to you between 2/24/25 and 3/7/25. Keep an eye on your Spam folder, as many class action/settlement emails wind up there. Once you get your email, it should give you a link to the claim website, along with some code and numbers connected to your identity.
If you think you should be part of the 2025 Avast Settlement, but do not receive said email, then wait until after 3/7/25 and then call the claims administrator. Be prepared with your Avast receipts or other relevant records.
