The latest wacky text to make the rounds is about some Powerball jackpot that a Good Samaritan wants to give away. This Lottery Winner smishing scam should be obvious to most. I hope you don’t fall for it!
This scheme is just a remix of that classic chain letter, from the Nigerian King who wants to part with his fortune. Except this smishing scam leads to some Google Voice number out in Nebraska…
Please don’t respond this message, if you receive it. The sender is just after your money, and will either:
- ask you to pay a small fee to receive your winnings
- seek your bank account number to complete a transfer
Whatever their tactic, they will take your money and then vanish.
